Abstract: Formation and function of the cardiovascular system is under exquisite transcriptional control. Using a combination of functional genetic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic approaches the Pu lab has been investigating the molecular mechanisms of transcriptional regulation in the heart and vascular systems. In this talk I will summarize some of the findings: (1) mapping of dynamic changes in transcription factor complexes and binding sites through heart development and disease; (2) post-transcriptional regulation of transcription factor complexes in and their effects on heart growth; and (3) development of a Cre-directed method for cell type specific enhancer identification and its application to studying transcriptional regulation of blood vessel formation and homeostasis.
