Center for Neuroimaging of Peking University Health Science Center

Center for Neuroimaging of Peking University Health Science Center is founded in 2015, which is a scientific research platform that mainly includes large scientific research equipment such as magnetic resonance scanner (GE Discovery MR 750) and can provide extensive magnetic resonance data collection for researchers domestic and overseas. Meanwhile, through expanding the large sample database of neuropsychological diseases, we can put forward the research of brain imaging that plays a supporting role in brain science and promote the research level of brain and brain diseases of Peking University Health Science Center.

The first research orientation: We are going to cooperate with Peking University and LEIBER institute for brain research in order to found and perfect computing theory and methods of brain structure and functional network of multimode imaging data and develop a series of neuropsychological experiment paradigms for assessing brain function in clinic.

The second research orientation: On the basis of multimode neuroimaging technique, we can find abnormal characteristics of brain structure and functional network of serious neurological and psychotic disorders and obtain imaging mark for early diagnosis, prognosis evaluation and therapeutic evaluation.

The third research orientation: With the fully development of multidisciplinary intersection research, we can develop innovative brain science methods of modern biotechnology, information technology and imaging technology.

Center for Neuroimaging of Peking University Health Science Center is affiliated to Peking University Sixth Hospital. We cooperate with school of life sciences, Department of Psychology and School of Physics of Peking University and many affiliated hospitals of Peking University. Our center includes research experts major in neuroimaging, biology, clinical neurology and pathergasiology, molecular genetics and many crossing fields. There are two academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, three Yangtze River Scholar Professors and six Distinguished Young Scholars of China. The researchers in our center published a series of contributive articles. The research achievements are widely accepted by international peers. There are favorable experimental environment and many advanced instrument and equipment. MR750 (3.0T) is one of the most advanced magnetic resonance equipment in the world, which guarantees the stability of imaging collection. In addition, our center is equipped with audio and visual stimulating system of brain function, eye tracker, E-Prime software and MAC pro server, which can be used for brain function study.

Important scientific achievements and contributions in recent years

On the basis of previous study, our center founded large sample biological database associated with many diseases such as analgesia, addiction, Alzheimer Disease, stroke, schizophrenia, depression and autism. We collected ample clinical materials, blood sample, DNA and imaging data. Through neuroimaging method, our researchers obtain excellent achievements in neurosciences, bioengineering, imaging, and clinical medicine and so on. We published many articles in Science, Nature, Nat Genet, Nat Neurosci, Neuron, and PNAS and so on. In brain information processing, we found that a novel UCS memory retrieval-extinction procedure can inhibit relapse to drug seeking and conditioned stimulus exposure in slow wave sleep can remove emotional memory. Neuroimaging studies found the regional and integrated characteristics of brain activities in resting state. We use computing theory and method of neuroimaging to diagnose and screen the patients with schizophrenia in the early stage. Imaging methodology is used to develop tracer technique of nerve fiber.
