Medical Technology Development and Research Center, Peking University Health Science Center
Medical Technology Development and Research Center established in January, 2019. Relying on Beijing Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Devices and Technology, the center undertakes the construction of medical technology disciplines at Peking University, promotes the construction of medical technology entities. The integration and construction of medical technology in Peking University is the key issue for discipline construction that is urgently needed as well as an important task to further optimize the medical discipline system. What’s more, the center will cooperate with universities in Beijing in order to promote the construction of Beijing as a national political center, cultural center, international exchange center, science and technology innovation center. It is an important supportive discipline construction base for Peking University Health Science Center to undertake scientific research tasks in medical technology and advanced disciplines, develop interdisciplinary integration, and optimize existing discipline systems.
Research fields and directions:
Cutting-edge medical engineering, technology research and development, and transformation applications. The center focus on new technologies and development of instruments related to some disciplines. It includes several secondary disciplines of medical technology: medical imaging technology, medical laboratory science, rehabilitative technology, optometry, stomatology technology, respirology diagnosis and treatment, medical physiotherapy, health data science, medical bioanalysis technology.
Intelligent medical imaging and analysis technology. Develop a remote medical treatment system based on the Internet and cloud technology to store and transmit various types of medical imaging and health-related structured data and results, build a safety and quality control system, and establish a remote medical treatment system with integration with expert decision-making system in medical institutions. What’s more, the center focuses on the development of new imaging theory, new technological research and new instrument of brain ultrastructure. Therefore, based on the new findings of brain structure, new neural networks and new psychoanalytic theories and methods are established to build a new intelligent brain disease diagnosis and treatment medical model for the future.
Medical technology history, construction and development plan of medical technology discipline. Investigate the history of medical technology and its secondarydisciplines in order to provide academic support and strategic guidance for the development of several secondarydisciplines of medical technology.
Peking University Health Science Center has launched cross fund with college of engineering, school of electronics engineering and computer science, school of life science and college of chemistry and molecular engineering since 2008. In the past 10 years, it supported nearly 230 cross funds in university, effectively promoted cross-disciplinary integration of different disciplines, and build a team of nearly 300 people in medical-engineering, medical-computer science, medical-chemistry fields. There are 11 staff members, including 7 scientific researchers, 1 technical staff, 3 administrative staff in the center.
The doctoral degree of medical technology was officially approved. Academic Degrees Committee of Medical Technology has been established at the end of 2017. The “8+1” secondarydisciplines layout has been formed and has been publicized by the Ministry of Education and approved by Peking University. It gathered a group of graduate supervisors and an academic professional team for the development of the center.
Based on Beijing Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Devices and Technology, the center jointly established with experts from 10 hospitals and related laboratories. The center has 8 physics application laboratories and about 500 experimental instruments. The practice base includes several clinical teaching hospitals of Peking University, department of applied physics of Peking University Health Science Center, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Computing Technology Chinese Academy of Science, Peking University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Neurology Department of Peking University Third Hospital, Neurosurgery Department of Peking University Third Hospital and other practice bases and research platforms. There are more than 600 practical or experimental machines and equipment; the total asset value of the equipment is about 1.2 billion yuan. The research team from different joint departments has a number of provincial and ministerial key laboratories or research centers. Therefore, there is ample research space. The research platform of discipline includes universities in China, companies and organizations that jointly undertake projects. As a practice and joint teaching department, it has the ability to produce large-scale medical equipment accessories.
In March 2019, the achievement of “method for detecting brain extracellular space ” was selected as excellent project of Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Exhibition. And therelated academic achievement about brain extracellular space and thenew drug delivery method via ECS has been selected as one of the Top Ten news of Medical Science and Technology 2019 which is organized by National Health Commission of China.
