Nature Communications, Journal of Clinical Investigation,Biological Psychiatry,Neuropsychopharmacology, The Journal of Neuroscience, Pain, Glia, Addiction Biology等本专业领域的顶尖杂志中,并多次得到编辑部评述、专业网站评论,研究成果被编写入国际教科书,并多次荣获国家科学技术进步奖等

Key Lab for Neuroscience, The Ministry of Education of China

Key Lab for Neuroscience, The National Health and Family Planning Commission of China

Key Laboratory for Neuroscience of Ministry of Education, and Key Laboratory for Neuroscience of National Health and Family Planning Commission composes Department of Neurobiology, School of Basic Sciences, Peking University, Neuroscience Research Institute of Peking University, and National Key Discipline of Neuroscience. It is responsible for not only neuroscience research, but also undergraduate and graduate teaching in Peking University. The history of the Key Lab dates back to 1993, when Neuroscience Research Center, Beijing Medical University (predecessor of Peking University Health Science Center) was founded. It was awarded as Key Laboratories for Neuroscience of National Health and Family Planning Commission in 1993, as well as Key Laboratories for Neuroscience of Ministry of Education in 2001.

The Key Lab performs bench and bedside research and focuses on both modern sciences and traditional Chinese medicine. The major research directions of the Key lab include:

  1. Pain and analgesia
  2. Drug addiction and its treatment
  3. Neural development, nerve injury and critical diseases
  4. Neurobiological mechanisms of acupuncture

Currently there are 41 members in the Key Lab, including 16 professors, 8 investigators, 4 associate professors, 3 associate investigators, 3 lecturer and 7 technicians. Among them, there are 2 Members of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2 Chang Jiang Scholars, 3 recipients of the National Science Foundation of China for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 specialist of One Thousand Talents Program, 1 specialist of One Thousand Young Talents Program, 1 recipient of the National Science Foundation of China for ExcellentYoung Scholars.

Faculty members of the Key Lab have won several honors and awards at national and international levels, including the National Award of Science and Technology Progress,Science Research Famous Achievement Award in Higher Institution, Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award etc. Professor Han has won the WU Jie-Ping Medical Award, Honorary Member of International Association for the Study of Pain.

Researches in the Key Lab have been supported by the National Basic Research Program of China (“973” Program) by the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China and other national-level foundations.

The facility platform in the Key Lab is funded by government and Peking University. It plays a key role in supporting neuroscience research within the Peking University Health Science Center. The facility platform consists of Behavioral laboratory, Cell culture laboratory, Microscopy imaging laboratory, Molecular biology laboratory, Morphologylaboratory, Electrophysiological laboratory, etc. The platform is run by full-time staff and provides support for researchers from within the Key Lab as well as from outside.

Research papers mainly published in international journals including top journals in the field like Nature Communications, Journal of Clinical Investigation,Biological Psychiatry,Neuropsychopharmacology, The Journal of Neuroscience, Pain, Glia, Addiction Biology. Some publications have been published with editorial, compiled into international textbook and won many national science and technology progress awards.

The Key Lab is also the founder of Chinese Association for the Study of Pain (CASP), Pain Physician Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Beijing Neuroscience Society. The Lab also set International Standardization Organization standard for electroacupuncture devices.
