北京大学环境医学研究所的前身是北京医科大学环境医学研究所，两校合并后改为现名。本所于1978年10月经中共北京市委教育工作部（78-京教字248号文）同意正式成立。现任所长郭新彪教授。
研究所主要研究领域在大气污染与健康、水污染与健康、职业环境与健康、食品安全与健康等方面。研究方向包括分子环境医学、环境毒理学、职业有害因素致病机制及防治、环境流行病学、慢性病流行病学、职业流行病学、细胞和分子毒理学、环境毒理学。
现有成员22 名，其中教授/研究员10人，副教授/副研究员3人。其中，中国环境科学学会环境医学与健康分会和中国工效学会人类功效学专业委员会主任委员各1名.中组部靑年千人1名。
环境医学研究所自成立以来，在我国环境医学研究和环境与健康管理决策支撑方面发挥了重要作用。近年来在职业与健康、环境与健康、食品安全等科学研究和管理支撑方面取得了多方面的重要成果，受到了国内外的好评。

Institute of Environmental Medicine, Peking University
The Institute of Environmental Medicine, Peking University was established on October in 1978 as the Institute of Environmental Medicine of Beijing Medical University. After Beijing Medical University was merged with Peking University in 2000, the institute was renamed as the present one. The current director of the institute is Professor Xinbiao Guo.
The main research fields of the institute include air pollution and health, water pollution and health, occupational health, food safety and health, etc. The major research direction include molecular environmental medicine, environmental toxicology, mechanism of occupational harmful factors and their prevention, environmental epidemiology, epidemiology for chronic disease, occupational epidemiology, and cellular and molecular toxicology.
There are 22 faculty and staff members in the institute, including 10 professors and 3 associate professors.
Since its establishment, the institute has played an important role in the research of environmental medicine and the scientific support for the environmental health management in China.In recent years, the focused research areas in the institute are air pollution and health, occupational health, food safety, etc.
